1 Tim. 6.2-12

Let's look at this passage verse-by-verse:

v. 5: "Imagining"! Godliness should never be a used as a way to wealth!

v. 6: When we are content, we are more satisfied than a rich man. We need to realize just how rich we are. Godliness is the only way to contentment. Contentment is the only way to true gain. Satisfaction does not come through riches, but through contentment.

v.7: We came into the world with nothing. Think of how rich and how blessed we are!

(Job 1.21: He said, Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I shall return there the LORD gave and the LORD has taken  away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.")

v. 8: Be content with having your needs met. God will provide for our needs! (Phil. 4.11-13, 19)

(Heb. 13.5: Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"

v. 9: It's a trap! Greed will hurt us in the end. (Eccl. 5.10-16)

v. 10: Greed produces evil and pain. So many sins can be tied back to loving money.

v. 11: Run! Pursue godliness and not greed. If you focus on pursuing godliness, you will not pursue greed

(Matt. 6.24: No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.)

v. 12: Fight for faith. Contentment takes faith.

Two lessons we must learn from this passage:

1. BE CONTENT (v. 6-8)

-Think about this guy to help you remember to be content:

2. RUN FROM GREED (v. 9-12)
