My little girl turns 23 this month. My boy is 27, married and the father of 2. What happened? It seems it was just yesterday they were crawling in my arms as preschoolers. What happened was life. James says our life is but a vapor and I can truly understand what he means. Before my eyes and before I knew it my kids were grown and gone.
The professor in the famous movie “Dead Poets Society” said “Carpe Deim” and challenged his students to “Seize the Day.” He was right. We must slow down and enjoy these days with our kids. We must seize each moment for before we know it those moments with your teenagers will be gone.
May I encourage you to find time to “Be still.” Go back to the days when families ate meals together. Take a family vacation. Have a popcorn and movie night. Dust off the gloves and bikes and play with your kids. Dad’s, date your daughter, Mom’s date your son. Turn off the TV and play board games. Don’t allow the hustle and bustle of this crazy, hectic world rob you of the most precious gifts you will ever receive. Your Kids!
Go ahead. Tonight, shock the family and take them out for ice cream and play with your kids – Before it is too late!
